The Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work’s Job Accommodation Service® launches a strategic initiative for an accessible Ontario

Toronto, Ontario, October 25, 2012 – The Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW) – Job Accommodation Service (JAS) ® has signed a strategic partnership agreement with OD Consulting and CanAdapt Solutions Inc. Through this initiative, services and support will be provided to companies and organizations of all sizes to comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards.

JAS® is an established, well known national consulting service that has enhanced employers’ ability to employ, retain, and accommodate employees with disabilities. This new initiative places a focus on a set of specialized consulting services to provide a one-stop service for Ontario companies to ensure their compliance with the AODA is seamless.

“JAS® has aligned it’s services with additional expertise to serve customers who require AODA-specific services”, said Nayla Farah, Director of the JAS®. “Since 2000, JAS® has been helping Canadian employers meet their legal duty to accommodate persons with disabilities while fostering an accessible and inclusive workplace.” The AODA is law in Ontario and JAS® is well positioned to assist companies of all sizes implement the required standards with practical solutions and tools.

With the introduction of the AODA and the associated accessibility standards, much of our work is directly related to the requirements of the regulations and we are pleased to collaborate in a seamless approach to creating accessible and inclusive environments”.

David MacDonald, President of CanAdapt Solutions Inc. says “We’re pleased to be partnering with the CCRW, at such an important time in our province’s history.” David was the only Canadian member of the authoring team that wrote the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2), and was contracted by the Ontario Office for Disability Issues (ODI) to help incorporate the WCAG into the AODA.
