We are paving the way to a fully inclusive nation, because we believe that disability should never stand in the way of ambition.
More than 1 in 10 working-age Canadians lives with disability. This means there are 443,900 unemployed Canadians with disabilities that do not prevent them from working.
(Statistics Canada, 2014).
People with disabilities often experience:
- significant wage gaps
- more people in part-time employment and/or living below the poverty line
- the unemployment rate is more than double that of the population without disabilities
According to research by BMO Financial Group (2013)
- 90% of Canadians recognize that our society is not fully inclusive; however,
- 69% of small businesses in Canada have NEVER hired a person with a disability.
We have made it our mission to help people with disabilities break down barriers to employment. We give job seekers the tools and confidence to educate and market themselves; we help them refine and demonstrate their abilities. We help employers become leaders in socially and fiscally responsible hiring and retention practices. it is important to us that employers understand the business case for hiring qualified employees with disabilities.
“Canada’s labour market is affected by a demographic shift in retirements and a growing gap between skills needed and those available. Businesses, government and academia must work together to address the current and future skills needed of the workplace,”
