Since 1976, the Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW) has been working to achieve a single, unifying goal: to support and promote equitable employment for Canadians with disabilities. This mission is accomplished through hands-on, direct service programs like CCRW’s Partners program.
The Partners program currently serves 9 communities across the country, with a 10th site scheduled to begin service in 2016. This innovative new program was borne from the amalgamation of 2 of CCRW’s most successful programs, RWIP and PWIP. Each preceding program brought unique experiences, resources and strengths. A thorough audit of the strengths and weakness of these programs was compared with ongoing research on the regional, provincial and federal economic climate. This allowed our team to pull together the Partners program; a cutting-edge service program designed to connect qualified and job seekers with disabilities with employer who are disability confident and ready to accommodate.
Over the next three years, more than 1,100 job seekers with disabilities from 10 communities in 7 provinces will start working as a direct result of the CCRW Partners program. As with all CCRW programs, empowerment early in life is a priority. That’s why we strive to maintain a minimum of 20% youth clientele in our programs.
