Disability Confident Employer Program

The Disability Confident Employer Program (DCEP) is an online training for supervisors, managers and recruiters who have some experience with hiring and retaining persons with disabilities, and want to take their business to the next level. 

 About the Training 

  • Approximately one-hour long 
  • Focus on interactive content 
  • Offers helpful advice from other business owners and tips from service agencies 
  • Develops the skills to effectively recruit and retain an untapped labour pool 

 Contents of the Training 

  • Inclusive interview processes
  • Beginning a conversation about accommodation when an employee has not disclosed
  • Developing an accommodation plan
  • Performance management
  • How to retain employees who develop disabilities
  • How to choose the right service agency to support you

  • Your business advertised on The Canadian Council for Rehabilitation and Work’s website  
  • An information package containing the training material to use for future reference

 Timeline for the Project 

  • Pilot project with businesses and organizations in Alberta, Ontario and New Brunswick 
  • Phase 1 will occur in October with 25 participants 
  • Phase 2 will occur in mid-November with 25 participants  
  • Program available nationally beginning in 2019
