Job Seekers

Are you a Job Seeker with a Disability? Do you have Post-Secondary Education or Equivalent Work Experience?

Consider joining WESP!

WESP helps job seekers with disabilities find career-related employment.

How is WESP work?

Clients must complete our mandatory workshop (1 – 2 weeks long) in which we teach topics that help clients become more effective in their job search. Clients must treat the workshop like an actual job (e.g. be punctual, complete assignments, respect other group members, etc.). Upon successful completion of the workshop, clients move into our job development component where they receive individual support in finding work in their field and 3 months of retention support after securing employment.

WESP workshop topics include:

  • effective job search strategies
  • social media
  • personal branding
  • resume and cover letter writing
  • crafting your elevator pitch
  • disclosure in the workplace
  • job accommodations
  • interview techniques
  • customized mock interviews
  • and many more!

WESP eligibility requirements:

  • self-identify as a person with a disability
  • be currently unemployed/underemployed (working a maximum of 20 hours per week)
  • legally entitled to work in Canada
  • computer literate
  • fluent in English, both written and verbal (essential)
  • committed to employment search
  • have professional competency in your field of interest and/or post-secondary education
