QA in response to postponement of Annual Public Meeting and Launch

In light of the recent and evolving situation surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), a decision was made to postpone the event “Communicate, Collaborate, Celebrate”, which was scheduled for April 6, 2020 in Toronto. The messaging below will serve to respond to questions from those who had registered for the meeting, and anyone else who may enquire.

Questions and answers

Q1. Why was the Annual Public Meeting/event postponed?

The decision to postpone the Annual Public Meeting was made due to the recent and evolving situation surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19). With the virus threat becoming increasingly serious and more and more large events being cancelled (over 300 individuals were expected at the event.), this was the logical and responsible action to take.

This decision was made with your well-being in mind – the health and safety of our participants is of the utmost importance to us and will continue to be our top priority moving forward.

Q2. What is the new date of the meeting?

A new date has not yet been identified. A new date for the event will be communicated once identified. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date.

Q3. Will the Board meeting that was scheduled to take place in April still go ahead?

The in-person Board meeting that was scheduled to take place in Toronto from April 6th to 8th, has been cancelled.

Q4. I already booked my travel. What can I do?

Registrants should contact their travel provider directly regarding changes to travel and/or cancellations.

Q5. Will there be an opportunity for me to provide input to Accessibility Standards Canada?

Absolutely. We are always looking to get input from the disability community and other stakeholders about our mandate to create standards and other programs.
